Blog Digest: No Chewing Required!

Eating my words

Whilst perusing the Irish Independent’s website, I came across this novel article, entitled “Blog Digest.” Written by SiliconRepublic.com‘s Journalist of the Year, Marie Boran, this latest installment provides its readers with a cross section of Ireland’s finest business blogs.

As Boran explains in her introductory paragraph,

“Being an internet-savvy businessperson doesn’t just mean visibility for your product or service – it also means engaging with customers and potentialcustomers in a way that grows trust for you and your brand.”

Boran continues her piece by profiling four excellent business blogs, Clunky Flow, Developing eWrite, Peter Donegan Landscaping and Jason Roe Blog. In addition to providing a concise synopsis of the blog itself, Boran includes a link to each blog.

This single feat clearly demonstrates the relentless integration of traditional journalism with digital flare. As Deuze (2003) explains in An Alternative Internet (Page 53), he believes the process of interactivity to be “the possibility for Internet publics (audiences) to respond to, interact with or even customise the content presented to them.” Thus, by including these useful links, Marie Boran has provided her audience with the opportunity to view these sites for themselves, allow them to make their own judgments and possibly contribute to daily blog proceedings.

Blog Digest has been a regular fixture on The Irish Independent‘s website during the month of February- every Thursday to be precise. The topics have varied from reviewing the blog of a Ballymena girl currently travelling, entitled ‘Coffee Helps‘ to a blog devoted to the exposure of road rage. So, whether you enjoy any of the topics mentioned above, or simply thrive on your next blog fix, blog digest is certainly worth a look! 🙂
